Eurecom_logo EURECOM (www.eurecom.fr) is a research and teaching institute located in the Sophia Antipolis Technopole in the South of France. Eurecom’s research activity focuses on 3 domains which have led to the creation of three research departments: Networking & Security, Multimedia Communications, and Mobile Communications. It has some 130 employees among which 107 are scientists (20 professors, 21 engineers, 65 Ph.D. students).The Mobile Communications Department has its focus on digital signal processing for mobile communications, information theory, 3rd and 4th generation cellular radio systems, wireless protocols, mobile ad hoc networks, software radios, and SW and HW prototyping. In addition to fundamental research, the department has strong expertise in open-architecture multi-way real-time radio platforms (www.openairinterface.org) for use in publicly-funded research projects aiming at demonstrating innovations at all protocols layers (RF to applications).

 isi_logo The Industrial Systems Institute (I.S.I) (www.isi.gr/en) is a public research institute, operating under the supervision of the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (G.S.R.T) of the Greek Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs. In May 2003 it was included in the Research and Innovation Center “Athena” (http://www.athena-innovation.gr/en). Its scope includes the active participation and substantial contribution to high-technology sectors, which relate to integrated industrial systems through application of state-of-the-art technologies. The institute’s main research activities are in the following areas: Wireless Embedded Systems, Integrated Network Services and Electronic System Design. The Wireless@ISI is a multi-disciplinary research group collaborating with the Electrical and Computer Engineering departments of Patras, Thessaly and Thessaloniki. Main contribution of the ISI/Athena_RC to the SOLDER is the cognitive radio application in 5G communication networks in terms of physical layer, diversity and link adaptation as well as cross-layer design and development.

Its considerable status allows it to build on its accumulation of comprehensive knowledge and puts it in a strong position to contribute to all aspects of the creation of the universal communications systems of the future. It is a dynamic research centre, drawing in talented researchers from the world over and reacting rapidly to the changing technological landscape. Some 50 researchers are currently working within the CTR, including academic staff, research staff, research students, and visiting academics.

Our portfolio includes implementations of software for modelling PHY layers of LTE/LTE-A and mobile WiMAX, tools for radio interface analysis as well as layer 2 and 3 protocol stacks for LTE. This is complemented by a broad range of technical courses targeted mainly at 4G operators, manufacturers and R&D institutions.ISW’s main research interests are in Radio Resource Management, MAC design, HetNets deployment, small cell support and SON algorithms.Engineering Department at ISW is responsible for company’s products ideation, architecting and implementation. The team consists of experienced researchers and engineers and has very strong links with the local Polish technical universities.
